My
plants can heal a burn, bring spice to your life, relax
you or simply entertain you.
Aloe Vera is known
for it’s healing value, especially for cooks in the
kitchen! As a redhead who sunburns, I have always appreciated
the magic of aloe! My aloes have been cared for on the sunny
window sills of my historic house and will love living at
your house too!
There are many plants from nature that can bring simple
pleasures to your kitchen. spicy oregano, tangy tarragon,
bashful basil, wicked rosemary, sassy sage, relaxing lavender
and sleepy lemon balm are just some of the urban
herbs that grow in my sunny windows and mini
green house.
New
in my herb gardens for 2010, medicinal
herbs. With the purchase of our
farm in Adams county Ohio, I have 10 acres
to experiment with plants Native Americans have known about
forever. Angelica, black cohosh, devil's club, feverfew,
chamomile, calendula, devils club, stevia to name a few.
Desert & Tropical
plants are the perfect urban companion. They are also about
the simplest entertainment you can discover! They thrive
in any environment and are especially happy when you forget
to water them! If you do care for them in the way they like,
they will surprise you with a whimsical flower, a waterfall
of foliage and color, an interesting growth pattern.
Mushrooms
and raspberries! Our
farm - Shagbark Farm,
named after the Hickories, in particular the shagbark hickories
that grow there is the perfect environment for raspberries.
Gentle slope provide the air circulation needed to grow
large sweet raspberries. The field we chose is surrounded
by Tulip Poplars, one of the first trees to bloom in spring.
The woodland setting already provides an abundance of mushrooms,
we plan to study what is there and harvest what is most
abundant. Our farm also promises hickory nuts
and we are learning how to make what is already there, more
plentiful. To date, we have introduced raspberries, medicinal
herbs and asparagus.
Many
of these items I offer as live plants, I also create market
products that I take to local Farmer's
